hasn’t bothered to understand what is happening 
with television, with Generation X, with anything 
you can name.”

But things that he said have stayed with me to a 
surprising degree, and I think what McLuhan has 
really impressed upon me is that the importance of 
looking at a process and how that shapes our 
perception and not try to stick to old ideological 
ideals of left and right, conservatism, socialism, 
etc.
